Watershed Special Education Program
Watershed High School provides a comprehensive program with a continuum of services for our students with disabilities. All of our services are developed to facilitate each student in reaching their potential.
The organization and provision of special education services in our school are guided by the following fundamental assumptions:
Watershed Special Education Resources
State and National Special Education Resources
Special Education Advisory Council
Watershed High School’s Special Education Advisory Council aims to promote inclusivity for every student. We, as parents and educators, are dedicated to break through the barriers related to special needs in order to help each child achieve their full potential. SEAC is an acronym for the Special Education Advisory Council, which is a group that provides input on special education issues to its local school district. Its purpose is to advise and advocate. By sharing their unique perspective of what it is like to use these services, parents can help the district to be more effective. In order to increase the involvement of parents of children with disabilities in district policy making and decision making, school districts have a special education advisory council that is incorporated into the district's special education system plan. Attending the advisory meetings can help you better understand how to work with the school division and how special education can meet the needs of children and youth with disabilities. An invitation for the 2024-2025 SEAC meeting will go out to parents this Fall!
Section 504 Plans
Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (34 C.F.R. Part 104) is a federal civil rights statute that assures individuals will not be discriminated against based on their disability. Section 504 protects a student with an impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities, whether the student receives special education services or not. Watershed High School does not discriminate in all materials available to students, participants, beneficiaries, applicants and employees based on disability and identifies the person responsible for coordinating Section 504.
The 504s at Watershed High School are handled by the 504 Coordinator, Bryan May. Byan is responsible for all Section 504 matters pertaining to identification, evaluation and placement, as well as disability discrimination. Bryan can be contacted by calling 612-871-4363 or emailing [email protected].

Watershed High School provides a comprehensive program with a continuum of services for our students with disabilities. All of our services are developed to facilitate each student in reaching their potential.
The organization and provision of special education services in our school are guided by the following fundamental assumptions:
- Special Education should be provided to students in the least restrictive environment to address their academic and social needs effectively.
- Students with disabilities should have access to the same educational, instructional, and social opportunities as their non-disabled peers.
- Students with disabilities should be challenged with high expectations and rigorous academic goals.
- Families play a crucial role as partners in educational decision-making for students.
- Accountability and evidence of progress are integral aspects of our special education services.
