Medieval Feast Apple Crisp Recipe and Instructions

Posted Wednesday, Jan 23, 2008 by ekallas

As in past years, we ask that friends and families of Watershed help provide dessert for the feast.  Below is a recipe for a Apple Crisp which could be delivered to the church on Friday, Feb. 1.  If it is not easy for you to whip this together, we will
gratefully accept a bakery or store-bought cake.  The cake should be somewhat simple in keeping with our Medieval theme (no bright
frosting, sprinkles or licensed characters please).  This will help with food
preparation, expenses, and logistics.  If you are able to help with the dessert, please
email me (karen.larson@target.com) to let me know.  Thank you very much.

Apple Oatmeal Crisp
(any fruit crisp recipe will do, if you have a favorite)

4 cups sliced tart cooking apples (around 6 apples)
2 teaspoons lemon juice
3-4 tablespoons sugar
1 cup rolled oats (either old-fashioned or quick-cooking)
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup flour
5 tablespoons butter, melted
1 teaspoon cinnamon
Pinch of salt

1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees
2. Place apples in a greased shallow dish.  One of those disposable aluminum 8 x 8
Squares or round pans would be good for this event, so you run no risk of losing your pan.
Sprinkle apples with lemon juice and sugar.
3.  Combine the remaining ingredients and sprinkle them over the apples. Bake for
about 30 minutes, or until apples are tender

Medieval Feast update Dec. 19, 2007

Posted Wednesday, Dec 19, 2007 by pgrant

Dear Watershed community,

The Feast is at Bethel Evangelical Lutheran Church, not Bethlehem. My mistake.

Here’s to all the volunteers already in place. Thank you, good people.

Coordinator: Karen Larson

Food purchase and preparation: Vicky Erdmann, Becky Weiss, Linda Weber, Jim Calkins, Keith Dunder

Decor: Linda Weber

PR: Leslie Wilson, Paula Nordhem, Endel Kallas, Nell Ubbelohde

Cleanup: Jamie Hepner (faculty liaison), Christine Welch, Andy Erdmann

Costumes: Nell Ubbelohde

Props: Nell Ubbelohde

Serving Captains:

Faculty will slot into the various areas in the next several school days, to work with the parents and other volunteers. Let the office and/or your friends know which area you’re interested in helping with. Looks to me like Nell and Linda could use a hand. Leslie K., did I forget anything?

Medieval Feast 2008

Posted Friday, Nov 30, 2007 by pgrant

Watershed’s next Medieval Feast is Feb. 1-2, 2008, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 4120 17th Avenue South, Minneapolis. As is traditional, there’ll be three shows: Friday evening, Saturday matinee, and Saturday evening.

In addition to the original play–being written even now by Watershed students–there’ll be grand feasting with delicious, traditional recipes. We’re also integrating our annual Silent Auction into the Feast.

If interested in helping, come to our Community Council meeting on December 5, 2007, from 6:30-8:00 p.m. at school, or give me a call at 612-871-4363 x206, or email me at pgrant@watershedhs.org. Thank you.

Medieval Feast 2007

Posted Tuesday, Feb 6, 2007 by Nell Morningstar

As noted in Snippets and emails that are currently being sent out, the date and location for the Medieval Feast has changed. The new dates are Friday, February 9th at 6:00 pm and Saturday, February 10th at 12:00 noon and 6:00 pm. The new location is St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2724 15th Ave. South, Minneapolis, MN 55407. It is located on the corner of 28th Street and 15th Avenue, behind Heart of the Beast.
Tickets are available on the Watershed website, or by calling the school (612-871-4363).
Currently, we are setting up the schedule for volunteers, most shifts are 2-3 hours long, and we have a variety of shifts available Thursday evening, all day and evening on both Friday and Saturday, and then the tear-down and final cleanup/hauling midday on Sunday. If you can work any of these shifts, please call Nell at 612/251-9758, or leave a message at the school for her.

Dessert Recipe and Instructions

Posted Tuesday, Feb 6, 2007 by ekallas

One thing we are asking from our beloved community (that’s you) is to help provide
dessert. I am including a recipe for a fruit crumble which could be delivered to the church on
Friday, Feb. 9. If it is not easy for you to whip this together, we would also
gratefully accept a bakery or store-bought cake. The cake should be somewhat simple (no bright
frosting or sprinkles or sponge-bob. . .you get the idea). This will help with food
preparation, expenses, and logistics. If you are able to help with the dessert, please
email me (acrampton@visi.com) to let me know. Thank you one million times.
