SENIOR NEWS UPDATE
Senior project presentations were held these past two weeks. It was great seeing the various projects and how each Senior chose to present his or her project. Thanks to all who attended this important event for the Senior class.
Next up: Senior Play
The Senior play this year is the Pulitzer prize winning comedy, You Can't Take It With You. The play, written in 1936 by George Kaufman and Moss Hart, broke records for the longevity of its run on Broadway. The story of the play centers on the Sycamore family. The family seems like a crazy group of eccentric individuals, but it is not long before you realize that if they are crazy, it's better to be their kind of crazy than the crazy world we live in. Show times are May 30 and May 31 at 7:00 p.m. The play is being held at the Scottish Rite Temple, 2011 Dupont Avenue South. The Scottish Rite Temple is housed in the historic Fowler Methodist Episcopal Church, designed in 1894 and built in 1906. It's sure to be an evening of laughter and enjoyment of this beautiful landmark location. Also, it's right next to Sebastian Joe's so an after the show ice cream treat is a must!
Graduation News:
Graduation this year is being held at Minneapolis Community and Technical College located at 1501 Hennepin Avenue in the theater. Off street parking is available as well as in the MCTC parking ramp. The Theater at MCTC has 300 seats. Each Senior will have 10 invitations available to them for their graduation. Senior families are asked to email Deb at dpelinski@watershedhs.org or Ben at btimko@watershedhs.org with the number of invitations they would like to order. In the past, a Watershed faculty member designed the formal invitation. This year, Ben Timko, who designed the great Senior Project Presentation flyer, is working on the graduation invitation. In the past, the cost for each invitation was in the range of $1.50 to $2.00. That cost is expected to be approximately the same. Please let us know as soon as possible how many graduation invitations you would like. Once we get everyone's order, if there are remaining invitations for those who would like more, families will
be contacted to let them know if there are extra invitations.
Senior Trip:
Plans for our Arkansas trip are moving forward. A letter was sent to each Senior parent and/or guardian explaining the trip and its cost. You are asked to turn in the bottom part of that letter as soon as possible so we can get an accurate accounting of the funds that are needed to pay for the chartered bus. We are grateful to Watershed's Plant Sale committee and the Board who voted to make the Plant Sale an official fundraiser for this year's Senior class and future Senior classes. Money from the Plant Sale will be used, in part, as a scholarship fund to help pay for any student or family who is not able at this time to pay for the Senior trip. PLEASE SEND THE FORMS IN AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
Plant Sale:
We still need a few volunteer slots filled for this week's Plant Sale, which supports the Senior Class. Help is needed to simply assist in plant sales, as well as a couple of closing shifts required moving plants/racks inside. Times needed are listed below. If you can help, please contact Leslie Kallas at ljkallas@gmail.com
