2011-12 Watershed High School Board of Directors

Detra Wilson - Chair/Community Board member. I have always been a bit of a humanitarian at heart. My educational background is in social work. I enjoy helping others and attempting to make a difference in the world. My mother has always taught me to be active in my community, to not take my possessions for granted, and to love thy neighbor. So, I love to be of service whenever needed.
Term date ends: 9/2013
Jason Kinsley - Secretary/Teacher Board member. Jason was educated in sculpture at the University of Iowa and curriculum/instruction at the University of St. Thomas. This is Jason's 10th year of teaching. In his spare time, he enjoys writing, art history, and boxing.
Term date ends: 9/2012
Mark Eilers - Treasurer/Parent Board member. Mark graduated from Dunwoody and is currently the Operating Engineer for Moneygram International. Mark has a son in the 10th grade. He appreciates Watershed's focus on the student as an individual, and that the school provides an environment that empowers the student to take charge of their learning. Mark is active in several community volunteer organizations and is looking forward to helping shape the future direction for Watershed High School.
Term date ends: 9/2013
Jennie Ellingson - Community Board member. Jennie received her BA in Human Development from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay in 2002. Her work experience includes serving as a youth worker with the YMCA and being a semi-independent Living Services Instructor providing case management and training services to adults with developmental disability. Jennie currently serves as the Education Support Advocate at Simpson Housing Services in Minneapolis. Her role includes providing education support, resources, case management, and advocacy to 45 K-12th grade youth and their parents who have been long-term homeless.
Term date ends: 9/2013
Anita Kempf - Community Board member. As the parent of a former Watershed student, Anita is familiar with the current academic and financial issues affecting Watershed High School as a State Charter School. She supports Watershed's mission as an arts-infused high school using her training and experience as a registered architect. The school is in the process of developing a business plan that accommodates government funding swings, and Anita is excited to be part of the process that will allow Watershed High School to continue to be available for current and future high school students.
Term date ends: 9/2012
Sheri Hoesley - Parent Board member. Sheri has resided in South Minneapolis for 20 years and is an active volunteer in her community. Over the past year, she has volunteered with both Hennepin and Ramsey Counties teaching Employment Readiness programs and curriculums, along with working part-time at a women's correctional halfway home. Sheri has been married for 12 years and enjoys working with teens, grilling outdoors, crossword puzzles, scary movies, golfing, and traveling. She looks forward to an exciting year at Watershed for the 2011-12 school term!
Term date ends: 9/2013
Linda Gavanda - Teacher Board member. Linda has a BA in Mathematics and an Urban Teachers Degree from Metropolitan State University and a BA in Visual Arts from Bethel University.   Ingunn Henrikssen - Teacher Board member. Ingunn has studied biology and environmental science in the U.S., the Caribbean, and Norway, and loves sharing what she's learned with students. As science is primarily a process for building knowledge about the world though experimentation, she wants to bring opportunities for inquiry into the classroom as often as possible. Ingunn has a BA in Biology from Smith College, an MS in Environmental Science from SUNY-ESF, and an MPA (Public Administration) from Syracuse University.
Term date ends: 9/2012
